3M™ Unitek™ Coaxial Straight Archwire is a multi-strand stainless steel wire constructed from fine wires twisted around a central core, delivering exceptionally light, gentle continuous forces ideal for early alignment, mild crowding, and patients with reduced periodontal support. Its multi-strand construction gives a high range of activation with low force-per-millimeter — the wire can be deflected through irregularly aligned brackets without producing excessive load on individual teeth. The round profile (.0175, .0195) supports easy ligation while preserving the wire's flexibility. Coaxial wires are commonly used as initial leveling-and-aligning archwires before transitioning to round Nitinol or stainless steel rectangular wires.
